Allowed Injury

An injury that BWC has determined to be work-related and eligible for payment of medical bills and/or lost work time compensation

BWC

State of Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation

Claim

The incident resulting in a work-related injury

Claim Number

The number assigned by BWC to the Claim

Disallowed

An injury that BWC has determined not to be work-related and is ineligible for payment of medical bills and/or lost work time compensation

First Report of Injury (FROI)

The form BWC has developed for the initial reporting of a work-related injury

MCO

Managed Care Organization, an organization certified by BWC for medically managing work-related injuries

Provider

A health care professional such as physician, chiropractor, hospital, vocational rehabilitation specialist, etc

Treatment Plan

A plan developed by a case manager, in conjunction with the Provider that defines medical treatment and/or protocols to be followed in treating the work-related injury.

Work-related Injury

An injury that BWC has determined to be an injury that has occurred in the course of and/or arising out of your employment.
